Kindness is perhaps the most important tool we have to improve our society. The charity Family GivingTree has spent the last 26 years creating a methodology that triggers a ripple effect of kindness. This ripple effect has involved tens of thousands of donors and volunteers, and through common efforts helped more than 500 charities, non-profits and public agencies to identify and reach approximately 1.5 million needy kids.
After experiencing how we have empowered so many people to show kindness, we now want transform our experiences into every-day events. To optimize the effect on a person's kindness, Thank You!'s methodology has based its principal backbone on one common theme, integrity. The sender of our message therefore needs to have a high grade of integrity to effectively convey the message of kindness, and to provoke the best actions from people. We see the greatest opportunity for impact is to involve law enforcement. When the action is done by an officer, the public will be given a display of kindness, at the same time they reinforce the positive behavior of the person who performed the action. In addition to the initial recognition of the person doing good, a donation to charities who spread kindness will also be initialized. Beyond that, all parties involved will be further recognized, and continue to influence the positive behavior of everyday people. Know more about charities: go to charities
As a former police lieutenant, the creator of Thank You! Henrik Gerner has worked side by side with law enforcement to develop logistics that safeguard the important integrity of all involved. This process has resulted in the approval from a police department in Silicon Valley. The participating officers have the guideline card you can see below, describing what the officer could look for. The recognition card is a simple way for the officer to make those caught in the act of kindness feel how important their act of kindness is. It also describes how important the officer's actions are in spreading the effect of kindness. Know more about methodology – got to methodology
